Join us for a talk on the remarkable life of Robert Reschid Stanley, the Mayor of Stalybridge from 1874 to 1876. From his humble beginnings as a grocer, Stanley's journey is one of extraordinary achievement and transformation. Discover how he rose to become a Justice of the Peace and one of the original trustees of Stamford Park. In a fascinating turn later in life, Stanley embraced Islam and served as the vice chair of the Liverpool Muslim Institute.
After the talk there will be tea, coffee, and biscuits and the opportunity to talk to the speaker.
