What's Involved
Let the museum come into your school. One of our skilled costumed facilitators will deliver our popular Toys workshop within your classrooms.
Timings: The sessions usually last 60 to90 minutes but we can arrange flexible timings to fit around your school day; perfect if you are a multiple entry school or would like the workshop delivering to more than one class.
Costs: £183 for half a day (up to 3 hours)/ £366 for a full day (up to 6 hours)
Explore toys through time in this fun and engaging hands-on workshop. Pupils will be able to handle and play with a variety of old fashioned toys and discover which toys have been popular with children in the past. They will learn how toys have changed over time as fashions and trends have changed, and how the materials used to make them have been adapted and updated.
Learning Opportunities
- Gain an understanding of how our local area(now known as Tameside) has changed through the course of history
- Pupils will be able to identify the key differences between modern toys and those from the past.
- Children will be able to create a timeline of when different toys and games were created throughout history.
- They will be able to consider the materials used to create toys and games during different time periods.
- Consider sustainability and the environmental impact of toy production
