There are lots of ways to explore the beautiful outdoors across Tameside to our enjoy parks and open spaces by walking or cycling.

Whether you are looking for a walking route to explore your local area, a fun family activity or want to join a local walking group – there’s never been a better time to get walking in and around Tameside.

Over the next few months there are a series of guided walks below featured below that you may want to join in with walking guide Paul Nethercott.

Sunset on Ridge Hill, Thursday 7th May 2026, 7:30pm - 9:30pm

See the setting sun on this two and a half mile gently paced walk with Paul Nethercott.

Lower Brushes Valley Ramble, Thursday 19th May 2026, 7:30pm - 9:30pm

Make the most of the long summer evenings on an easy two mile walk with small hills around Lower Brushes with Paul Nethercott.

Where: Oakgates car park, Hartley Street, off Huddersfield Road, Millbrook, Stalybridge, SK15 3EP

Carrbrook and Millbrook Circular Walk, Sunday 31st May 2026, 11am - 4pm

A 5.5 mile walk along the moorland edge of Carrbrook over to Millbrook and along the canal back to Carrbrook with Paul Nethercott.

Evening Moorland Walk, Thursday 11th June 2026, 7:15pm - 10pm

Stalybridge Town & Country Walk, Tuesday 30th June 2026, 7:30pm - 9:30pm

A three and half mile moderate walk with Paul Nethercott around Stalybridge Country Park looking at the local history and other points of interest.

Millbrook Moorland Edge Walk, Thursday 9th July 2026, 7:30pm - 9:30pm

Discover the moorland around Millbrook on a moderate 3 mile walk with Paul Nethercott.

Roaches Trail, Tuesday 28th July 2026, 7:30pm - 9:30pm

From industrial heyday to wildlife reclamation, an easy two mile walk with Paul Nethercott

Where: Lay-by opposite Royal George Hotel, Manchester Road, Greenfield. OL3 7HX

2 Park Link Walk, Sunday 9th August 2026, 11am - 3:30pm

A 4.5 mile walk linking Stalybridge Countrypark and Cheethams Park and lots of great Countryside between with Paul Nethercott.

Millbrook Heritage Trail, Sunday 12th September 2026, 12noon - 4pm

On National Heritage Week, explore the history of the growth of Millbrook and the decline of the cotton industry on a two mile walk with Paul Nethercott

Please bring lunch and drinks and wear sturdy footwear such as walking boots. You may need waterproofs and/or sun cream depending on the weather.
