Iris Duo:
Sophie Combes on viola
Abigail Webb on cello
The Iris Duo are a viola and cello duo currently in their third year of undergraduate study at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM). Formed in 2025, Sophie and Abigail had their debut performance in the RNCM concert hall playing works by Paul Hindemith, Piazzolla and Rebecca Clarke. As an unusual pairing of instruments, the Iris Duo are very excited to continue exploring the underrepresented works for this instrumentation. Both players are members of the Sage Quartet, formed in 2023 and their love of playing together lead to the formation of the Iris Duo. They have already received coaching from Daniel Sledzinski (Violist of Novo Quartet) and Jennifer Langridge.
Sophie and Abigail appear by kind permission of the RNCM.
REEDACTED:
Izzy Street on oboe
Shire Sexton on saxophone

They play a breadth of music arrangements from Strauss to Nina Simone, Tchaikovsky to Toploader, REEDACTED are keen to continue growing further as an ensemble. They’ve received coaching from a range of professional musicians and ensembles including the MAAT Saxophone Quartet, Naomi Sullivan (Laefer Quartet), Timothy Barber (BBC Philharmonic) Sergio Castelló López (Hallé). They are finalists of the 2026 RNCM Fewkes Chamber Prize and look forward to a variety of opportunities ahead of them.
