Tameside Local Studies and Archives

Find out more

Join renowned food historian Neil Buttery for an engaging and deliciously insightful talk that delves into the rich tapestry of culinary history. Explore how food has shaped our culture, our traditions, and our lives through the centuries.

Neil will shine a spotlight on the remarkable story of Elizabeth Raffald—the most influential cook you’ve probably never heard of. A trailblazing culinary pioneer of the 18th century, Raffald’s contributions to cooking and hospitality have left a lasting legacy, yet her name remains largely unknown today.

After the talk there will be tea, coffee, and biscuits and the opportunity to talk to the speaker.

To book your place on the talk email archives@tameside.gov.uk or phone 0161 342 4242.
