PALAIS DE DANSE whisks audiences back to the lively dancehalls of 1950s Britain, where music, excitement and big swirling skirts filled the room. This joyful, multi‑sensory show brings to life the fun of getting ready for a night out, learning the latest dance steps and sharing the thrill of the dancefloor. With playful characters, colourful costumes and plenty of chances to join in, PALAIS DE DANSE is designed for all ages. Children will enjoy the movement, rhythm and spectacle, while adults can smile at the memories and stories of a bygone era. Miss High Leg Kick’s imaginative re‑telling blends nostalgia with a modern twist, celebrating the shared joy of dancing together—then and now.
Transmission brings Tameside’s rich dance story to life — from the borough’s proud Morris traditions to its eras of ballroom elegance, Rock and Roll energy, Northern Soul passion and full‑throttle rave culture — through community engagement, live Morris and Ceilidh performances, participatory moments, Northern Soul sessions and thoughtful panel discussions.
Taking place across Friday 20 March and Saturday 21 March 2026, this evolving programme honours the past while inviting communities to help shape what dance means to Tameside today, forming a vibrant new celebration of the borough’s dance heritage produced in partnership by Tameside‑based artist and culture producer Sarah Hardacre and TMBC Cultural Services. Commissioned by Greater Manchester Arts and TMBC, Transmission is supported by GMCA Spirit and part‑funded by the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
