Welcome to Ashton!
Get ready for a vibrant day of family-friendly entertainment as Super Saturdays returns to Ashton town centre on Saturday 11 July, bringing a colourful celebration of summer, nature, art and creativity.

Taking place between 11am and 3pm across Fletcher Square and Market Street, the free event will transform the town centre with giant walkabout flowers, butterflies and plants, interactive theatre, puppet shows, arts and crafts activities, live music, face painting and much more.

Visitors can spread their wings at Cabasa Carnival Arts’ Small is Beautiful Wings Workshop, where children and families can try on beautifully silk-painted butterfly wings and let their imaginations soar. Face painting from Vix’s Facepainting will also be available throughout the day.

Highlights include The Bewonderment Machine from A Bird In Hand Theatre – a magical, cycle-powered carousel featuring hand-carved animals, puppetry and music that takes young children on an imaginative journey.

The town centre will also come alive with a host of walkabout performances, including Bob the Butterfly and Gerry the Gerbera from Artemis Productions, the enchanting Meadowsprites from A Curious Cargo, and the delightfully quirky cactus duo Spike and Prickolas in The Prickly Pair Hug by Feasible Ferret.

Families can enjoy Composticity, an engaging puppet show from Cecil Green Arts that explores environmental themes through storytelling, handmade puppets and original music.

Creative visitors can get hands-on with Phantasmagoria’s Wonderful World of Arts and Crafts, featuring activities such as making flowers and painting rock animals, while a programme of live music from a variety of performers will provide the soundtrack to the day.

Super Saturdays are free to attend and offer something for all ages, making them the perfect way to enjoy a summer weekend in Ashton town centre.
