Stalybridge Festival Committee is pleased to welcome back the Stalybridge Carnival Weekend to Cheetham Park after a two year hiatus, on 25th and 26th June.

Very much part of Stalybridge’s heritage and culture, the carnival will form part of the town’s celebrations to mark its year as Greater Manchester’s Town of Culture 2022. Many groups and schools will be taking part in the parade and large crowds are expected to line the route and join in the celebrations and activities.

Greater Manchester Rock Choir will be entertaining the crowds in Armentieres Square from 1pm as the Carnival Parade makes its way into the town centre from its starting point on Bayley Street on Saturday 25th June.

What’s more, the festival committee has been awarded a grant of £500 from Tameside Council, which has been set aside for activities and groups that are promoting Town of Culture activities throughout the summer. The committee is using the funding to create a banner which will read “Stalybridge - Greater Manchester Town of Culture 2022”.

Ian Cochrane from the Festival Committee said: “The banner will be used to help to promote the status of Stalybridge being the Greater Manchester Town of Culture this year. As a local resident I am very proud of Stalybridge attaining this status and it’s something we should be shouting about!”
