Make your own Thaumatrope

What is a Thaumatrope? A thaumatrope is a classic 19th-century optical toy that creates the illusion of a moving image. We will create two complementary images on opposite sides of a circle and by spinning it, the images merge into one – demonstrating the early days of moving pictures.

Led by artist Helen Dodsworth.

Suitable for all ages, children must be supervised at all times. The activity costs £1.40 per child - please buy your ticket at the museum reception desk. Please note you may have to wait for a space at the craft table during busy times.
